The glorious Petworth Festival piano is put through its paces by the Moscow-born Israeli pianist Boris Giltburg. Giltburg is rightly lauded across the globe as a deeply sensitive, insightful and compelling interpreter of the piano repertoire. He is especially welcome to the festival being a proponent of “Classical music for all,” his eponymous blog being complemented by regular articles in Gramophone, BBC Music Magazine, Guardian, and The Times.

Medtner Sonata in G minor, Op. 22

“There’s no question that we are celebrating the piano in all its glory over the festival and, if we finish with the magnificent flourish that is Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue, we start with the full power and glory of the 19th century Russian repertoire – Rachmaninov, Tchaikovsky and Medtner – in the hands of a world great, Boris Giltburg. To have him in Petworth is quite simply something of a coup.” Stewart Collins
