Both violinist Thomas Gould and jazz pianist Gwilym Simcock are well known to Petworth audiences, but for 2025 we get to hear them together in a fascinating and uplifting programme that sees them channeling the extraordinary facility that both musicians have to cross musical boundaries. Moving effortlessly between jazz and classical music, their repertoire will include:
Corelli – Sonata for Violin and Continuo Op. 5 No. 1 in D major
Purcell – Dido’s Lament
Westhoff – Sonata No. 3 in D minor ‘Imitation of the Bells’
Matteis – Ali’s Fantasia
Glass – Knee Play
Bach (arr. Simcock) – Wachet Auf, Ruft uns die Stimme
Bach (arr. Simcock) – Jesus Bleibet Meine Freude
