Less than a fortnight before the centenary of the ending of the First World War, acclaimed author Michael Morpurgo reads from War Horse with specially composed songs performed by Ben Murray.

Known variously as a book, a theatre piece and a hugely successful film, in War Horse Michael Morpurgo tells the powerful and deeply-moving story of young Albert and his beloved horse, Joey. Set during the First World War, the story is seen through the eyes of Joey, who witnesses the pity of war on both sides of the trenches as he moves from life on a farm in peaceful Devon to the devastation of the Western Front.

Michael is joined by National Theatre War Horse actor Clare Louise Connolly and songman Ben Murray, who accompanies him with a sequence of rousing yet haunting songs specially composed by John Tams for the National Theatre’s award-winning production of War Horse.

Please note: Michael Morpurgo has advised us that he is not able to undertake a book signing following this event, but he will be signing books specially for sale on the night.
