One of our finest solo clarinettists brings her stellar ensemble of musician friends to Petworth in a programme based around the mighty Quartet for the End of Time by Olivier Messiaen. Perhaps the French composer’s greatest masterpiece, the quartet was written whilst Messiaen was imprisoned during World War II, but ultimately lives and breathes hope and beauty. By contrast, the programme opens with music by the young Beethoven.
Emma’s friends are Simon Blendis (violin), Raphael Wallfisch (cello) and Martin Roscoe (piano)
