The basis of the recent Oscar-winning film The Theory of Everything, Jane Hawking’s compelling memoir relates the inside story of her extraordinary marriage to Stephen Hawking. As Stephen’s academic renown soared, his body was collapsing under the assaults of motor neurone disease, and Jane’s candid account of trying to balance his twenty-fourhour care with the needs of their growing family will be inspirational to anyone dealing with family illness.

Jane Hawking talks about her unflinchingly honest, moving and often funny account of the dilemmas that on one level will be familiar to many but which in her case were played out on a dramatic and often public canvas. Ultimately her story is one of optimism, love and change that will resonate widely.

Jane Hawking, who was Stephen Hawking’s wife for over twenty-five years, has lived in Cambridge for most of her adult life. Her book At Home in France was published in 1994, followed by Music to Move the Stars in 1999. She teaches Modern Languages and is also a keen solo and choral singer.
