Hosted by the very much one and only Matt Barnard, we welcome two brilliant stars from the comedy circuit who come together for the festival’s annual assault on the funny bone…
The evening is headlined by the one-liner king Milton Jones who, with his trademark wild hair and exotic shirts, is a regular on Mock the Week (BBC2), has appeared on Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow (BBC1), Live at the Apollo (BBC1) and he has headlined Dave’s One Night Stand (Dave). He is a previous Perrier Best Newcomer and Nominee, Sony Award winner and British Comedy Award nominee.
‘Beautiful one-liners so skillfully sculpted, you don’t know whether to laugh or put them on your mantelpiece’ The Guardian
Tom Houghton? He grew up on military barracks all over England, Germany and Northern Ireland and went to boarding school in the depths of Cumbria from the aged 6. For 9 years he was part of an improv comedy group called “The Noise Next door” (who aren’t half bad actually) and is now “riding solo” and currently living in The Tower of London. He reckons he’s a bit of a posh twat from a very posh background but trying to be humble about it. But it’s hard; over Christmas he woke up and someone had put an ice-skating rink in his moat!
‘Tom exploits his family background to hilarious (and touching) effect. It’s brilliant, bravura stuff and, I was held from start to finish, hugely impressed, vastly amused and generally bowled over. 5 stars’ Gyles Brandreth
