Many of our audience will remember with joy the last visit of the
London Mozart Players to Petworth – the first live music played in
St Mary’s Church in 2020 after the first lockdown, when they were
joined by the legendary Howard Shelley. Their return sees them
in the company of the astonishing 15-year-old violinist Leia Zhu.
Since her debut at age four, Leia has performed at prestigious
festivals and venues in more than 15 countries around the world,
and with numerous established orchestras and international
artists. She was appointed Artist-in-Residence with the London
Mozart Players in October 2021.
Led by Ruth Rodgers, the London Mozart Players is the UK’s
longest established chamber orchestra, founded in 1949 by Harry
Blech. The LMP has developed an outstanding reputation for adventurous, ambitious and thoughtful
programming, and continues to build on its long history of association with many of the world’s finest
artists including Dame Jane Glover, Nicola Benedetti, Sheku Kanneh-Mason and Michael Collins.
