The name Duo Diez is derived from the Spanish word for ten – diez – the combined number of strings on Violetta’s violin and Dimitris’ guitar. Since meeting at the Royal Academy of Music they have developed both solo careers and as a duo based around a shared interest in Spanish, Ladino and Latin American Music. Their repertoire is centred around the music of Bach and Mozart, from Schubert to Sarasate and from Piazzolla to Villa-Lobos. Violetta plays on a 1735 Sanctus Seraphim violin kindly on loan from Derek J Croome. Dimitris is sponsored by D’Addario and Company and plays on a Greg Smallman 2008 guitar.
