The second of three special evenings in the unique environment of the Stable Yard at Petworth House.
Picking up where Georgie Fame so memorably left off in 2019, we welcome The Blues Band. In a career that stretches to almost two and a half decades and over 16 albums they continue to add to their growing army of followers; it’s not unheard of to find three generations from the same family at a gig. The band are today acknowledged throughout Europe and beyond as being amongst the very finest purveyors of rhythm & blues.
The Blues Band is headed up by the one and only Paul Jones. Having declined Brian Jones’ invitation to join the fledgling Rolling Stones in 1962, Paul accepted the very next offer, a job with the group which soon became Manfred Mann. Over the years, Paul’s songs have been recorded by people like Ten Years After, Al Kooper and Carlos Santana - and he has also written for films, television and commercials. As a harmonica man, he has performed publicly and/or recorded with Memphis Slim, Alexis Korner, Henry Gray, Alvin “Youngblood” Hart, Susan Tedeschi, Eric Bibb, Otis Grand - not to mention the likes of Tina Turner and the Royal Ballet Sinfonia. The list of guests on his programmes on BBC Radio 2 and Jazz FM is quite simply encyclopaedic...
